West Ham are preparing to bridge their bitter rivalry with Millwall to poach one of the club’s best talents.

The momentously hostile clash between West Ham and Millwall is a rare occurrence nowadays, but this is not to say relationships have improved – they likely never will, well as the Hammer reading this will certainly think. And this situation certainly will not be improved if Manuel Pellegrini swoops in to steal the services of full-back Mahlon Romeo.

Indeed, the dawn of the summer transfer market means one thing for lower tier clubs: hatch their best players down and hope for the best.

With such a huge disparity in transfer budgets and general wealth, it is a sad reality that those sitting below the top flight can be financially flexed on so easily by those within it.

This is just another case of that chain unfolding.

Romeo is a touted long-term replacement for 34-year-old veteran Pablo Zabaleta, whose contract is set to expire at the end of the season. And despite the Argentine being a decent enough servant, this will make a welcome change to proceedings.

Indeed, the Hammers right-back position has become a bit of a retirement spot for those in the twilight years of their career.

The aged and most certainly ‘past it’ Alvaro Arbeloa was handed the honour before Manchester City’s Pablo Zabaleta; and, rather worryingly, reports as recent as February have suggested that departing Red Devil Antonio Valencia could be the next in line (as per Daily Mail).

This is why interest in Romeo is surely welcome and refreshing news.

According to the Express¸ West Ham are readying an offer to take the player from under Millwall’s noses this summer.

He may only be used as competition for Ryan Fredericks but there is a very good player in Romeo. Quick off the mark, solid in his tackles, and tactically astute, the Daily Mail were very positive about the player early last year in an extensive scouting report.

He could be well worth a chance – especially if it means depriving a rival of one of their best players.

وتحدث كومان عقب تعادل برشلونة أمام إشبيلية (1-1) في الدوري الإسباني، ولم يشارك ديمبلي في تلك المواجهة.

ونشرت صحيفة “ماركا” الإسبانية تصريحاته وقال كومان عن إمكانية بقاء أو رحيل ديمبلي: “لا يوجد شيء مضمون في هذا العالم”.

وأضاف: “في الوقت الحالي ديمبلي لاعب برشلونة، بقي يوم واحد على سوق الانتقالات، سنرى ما سيحدث”.

وأتم: “لقد اخترت ترينكاو، بيدري وبيانيتش، كنا بحاجة إلى مزيد من التحكم ولهذا السبب قمت بإجراء هذه التغييرات”.

Despite falling down to second place, Liverpool are brimming with confidence and belief in their ability to secure their first league title in 28 years. The advantage might be with Manchester City, but who wouldn’t have taken this position if offered it at the start of the season? Always look on the bright side, after all. 

Jurgen Klopp has, over time, developed a very capable squad who are now close to reaching their full potential. Having been so good this season, they now have to reach new levels if they want to knock Manchester City off top spot once again. Almost crowned the best team in Europe last season, being crowned the best team in England would be quite something.

Whether that can be done this season or not, the Reds are surely soon to bring some silverware back to Anfield due to the immense quality of their team.

That quality though can be improved, but how you may ask? Well, the dominant Virgil Van Dijk has yet to find a permanent partner and if Liverpool stump up the right amount, Ajax’s Matthijs De Ligt could be that man.

De Ligt, (who is valued at £58.5 million on Transfermarkt) is already an international partner to Van Dijk – having previously talked up a move to Anfield – so the players already have a rapport that is only better news for Liverpool.

A big move for the 19-year-old is surely on the horizon due to his fantastic performances for his club and national side and Liverpool could really be the perfect destination for him. Even credited with an interest by Bleacher Report, the club’s FSG backers should splash major cash to bring him to Merseyside.

It’s worked before, after all.

As captain of Ajax at such a young age, De Ligt has consistently put in professional performances in the 39 appearances he has made this season.

With four goals and two assists in addition to those appearances, it proves that his skills don’t stop at defending.

In fact, Matthijs De Ligt has been so impressive that he has accumulated 20 clean-sheets this season and that is an achievement Liverpool cannot underestimate.

A wonderkid of the highest order, he’d be a statement signing.

Despite having a solid defensive record under Rafa Benitez, there is still a multitude of ways Newcastle United can fortify their defence with better resources.

Indeed, they are still lacking in a few departments – the Bournemouth game proved that – and if those can be filled, the Magpies will become a tough element to break down.

According to reports from Calciomercato, they are already looking to toughen up their defence by signing Brentford’s Yoann Barbet in the summer. The French defender is versatile in the sense that he plays centre-back and left-back quite comfortably, which makes him a perfect fit for Benitez’s new-found 3-4-3 formation. A no-nonsense defender, he may not be the most inspiring apparent target, but certainly a clever one.

The Spaniard must be craving for a quality left-back after running out of options and Barbet can also fill that void. It’s been a problem position for the Magpies for years now and it’s about time it was addressed, after all. He’s played as a left-back for Brentford many times this season, while also drifting into the middle equally well, adding a lot of string to his defensive bow.

Indeed, Barbet’s been a reliable outlet, clearing dangerous and neutralizing dangerous attackers with his astute defensive skillset.

He’s helped his side keep six clean sheets in the 30 EFL Championship appearances (stats via Transfermarkt), helping them maintain a solid defensive shape. The 25-year-old is not only strong but is mobile enough to contain pacy wingers, with his hard-tackling ability and fearless attitude making him an asset.

Fabian Schar has already been linked (via the Mirror) with a move away after impressing during his first season on Tyneside and he could attract a healthy fee, so the Magpies should pack his bags and bring in Barbet who would be a smart replacement for the Switzerland international.

The Bees ace is already experienced in the ruthless English environment and would set in nicely up at Newcastle. If the Magpies wish to fly higher under Benitez, they need to further solidify their defence with someone as unrelenting as Barbet.

تلقى لاعب مانشستر يونايتد خوان ماتا عرضًا مغريًا للغاية من أحد الأندية السعودية للانضمام إلى صفوفها.

ومن المقرر أن ينتهي العقد الحالي للاعب الإسباني مع الشياطين الحمر في عام 2021.

وتراجع دور ماتا في الأولد ترافورد تحت قيادة المدرب أولي جونار سولشاير، في ظل تواجد لاعبين آخرين في مركزه مثل بول بوجبا وبرونو فرنانديز وفريد ودوني فان دي بيك ونيمانيا ماتيتش وغيرهم.

وقال خبير الانتقالات إيان ماكغاري، في تصريحات نشرتها صحيفة “ذا صن” الإنجليزية، أن ماتا تلقى عرضًا مربحًا للغاية للانتقال إلى المملكة العربية السعودية.

وأوضح أن العرض الذي تلقاه ماتا سيحصل بمقتضاه على راتب سنوي قدره 15 مليون دولار.

وأفاد أن النادي السعودي لم يدخل في محادثات رسمية حتى الآن مع مانشستر يونايتد، ومن ثم لا يمكن الكشف عن هويته.

وأشار إلى أن والد ماتا ووكيل أعماله، واثق من أن مانشستر يونايتد سيوافق على رحيل ماتا، الذي تم تفعيل بند التمديد لعام آخر في عقده خلال الصيف.

وأكد أن ماتا نفسه لم يرد حتى الآن على عرض النادي السعودي، ولكن المبلغ المعروض سيكون مغريًا بنسبة كبيرة له، خاصة مع الإعفاء من الضرائب.

Loads of Rangers fans have been reacting to the latest on Ryan Kent, as it appears Liverpool are trying to price the Gers out of a permanent move.

According to The Liverpool Echo, Liverpool are seeking in excess of £12m for Kent this summer.

The young winger moved to Ibrox on loan last summer, and has made an excellent impact with five goals and nine assists during his debut campaign, including the winning assist in the Old Firm in December.

The Daily Record have also claimed they know what Liverpool’s asking price is, stating a bid of around £8m to £10m could secure his services, and that Steven Gerrard would love to sign him.

Either way, that is an awful lot of money to invest in a position where the Gers will have Glenn Middleton, Eros Grezda, Jamie Murphy and Jordan Jones all competing for playing time next season.

Gerrard of course worked with Kent at Liverpool, so it would not be a huge surprise to see him pull the trigger if the Reds drop their price, but anything around the £10m mark feels excessive.

When Kemar Roofe was confirmed to be missing a chunk of Leeds’ fixtures due to injury in February, Patrick Bamford must have known that he had to take his opportunity to impress  Marcelo Bielsa.

The forward made an immediate impact against Bolton Wanderers by scoring a penalty and followed his performance up with a brace against West Bromwich Albion before firing in the winner against Bristol City on March 9th.

However, since this initial burst of form, Bamford has struggled to impose himself as a key player for the Whites and was notably poor in the club’s 1-0 loss to Sheffield United, a result which saw his side drop out of the top two positions in the Championship.

With Roofe expected to return for next Saturday’s clash against Birmingham City (via the Yorkshire Evening Post), the former Chelsea man had to force Bielsa into considering keeping him in the team by producing the goods against Millwall.

Unfortunately for Bamford, he experienced somewhat of a nightmare against the Lions which could have easily cost his side the victory if it wasn’t for the heroics of Pablo Hernandez. With Leeds trailing 1-0, they were given a penalty after Ezgjan Alioski was brought down in the area yet a tame effort from Bamford was saved. Although it would be harsh to judge the 25-year-old on this alone, his all-round play was well below the level that he is capable of delivering and so it wouldn’t be surprising if he is dropped for the Whites’ visit to St. Andrew’s Stadium if Roofe is deemed fit enough to start.

Bamford has scored seven goals in all competitions but Bielsa simply can’t take the risk.

With just seven games standing between Bielsa’s side and a long-awaited return to the Premier League, the last thing that they need is to be carrying any passengers and so Bamford must be dropped after his failed audition up-front for the sake of promotion.

وواصل: “لقد أرسلت بالفعل رسالة إليه أعتذر فيها وأنا أفعل ذلك هنا علنًا، أتمنى ألا يصاب وأن كل شيء يكون على ما يرام”.

وتابع: “كما أعتذر لزملائي في الفريق والنادي والمشجعين على تركهم بـ10 لاعبين في نهاية المباراة، لسوء الحظ لا يوجد شيء يمكنني القيام به لتغيير ما حدث، بخلاف التفكير والعمل والمضي قدمًا”.
